  • Farmhouse Crochet Tea Towel Holder

    A simple farmhouse DIY, perfect for hanging beautiful tea towels.

    In the past I would crochet the tops of my towels, so that I could hang them on the oven door. This meant I would have to take the time to crochet the tops, every time I bought a new towel. Of course I could just hang the towel through the oven door but it always looked like a mess, as I would quickly try and stuff the towel over then handle while cooking.

    I picked twine to make this tea towel holder because of its durability and the fact that it won’t stretch out or fray over time. I also love the simple farmhouse look it adds to the kitchen. This pattern can easily be made in under 15 minutes from start to finish, depending on how fast you crochet.

    Crochet American Flag Wall Piece

    I’m so excited to announce that my Crochet American Flag Wall Piece pattern is now available!

    As most of you already know, I lost my step brother SGT. Tyler Shelton on August 27th! These last few weeks have been some of the most heartbreaking!

    STG Tyler Shelton was serving the US Army as part of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment “Night Stalkers,” out of Fort Campbell, KY. He was a helicopter repairer, engaged in training operations off the coast of Southern California when the Black Hawk they were flying went down killing STG Shelton, along with one other soldier. 💔 

    Through the tears I created a Crochet American Flag 🇺🇸 wall piece for his wife he left behind, as well as my step dad. Honoring his ultimate sacrifice for our country! I’ve cried many tears & prayed broken prayers through each stitch. This has been the hardest gift I have ever made, but my most proud! I’m so proud of you brother, thank you for teaching us to always smile! I know we will smile again, it will just take some time! 160th Night Stalkers Don’t Quit!

    A crochet pilgrim outfit for baby turkeys or chicks.

    We were recently given turkey eggs from a local farm to incubate & add to the backyard farm. They have been such a fun addition and we have already learned so much about these beautiful birds in such a short time.

    I couldn’t help myself! When I think of turkey I immediately think of Thanksgiving & then Pilgrims come to mind. I thought, “I wonder… if I can can make this turkey look like a pilgrim.” And that’s how this pattern came about.

    New stitch technique: the back loop fold

    I decided one night I wanted to crochet a pilgrim hat for my baby turkeys to dress them up and add a little fun to my Instagram page. When I got started I quickly started testing the best way to form the hat and ultimately came up with this new stitch technique, I call the back loop fold.

    It’s pretty much a half double crochet hdc but in the back loop only. Something else you will notice about this stitch, is how I come in from behind the back loop. Instead of the usual front of the stitch.

    To get started you’ll need yarn and a crochet hook

    1. Wrap your yarn around the hook.
    2. Insert your hook from behind the back loop, towards yourself.
    3. Wrap the yarn around your hook and pull through the back loop only.
    4. You should have 3 loops on your hook.
    5. Pull through all 3 loops, like you would for a half double crochet hdc.
    6. Repeat.

    This stitch helps you create an edge or fold to your work. Making it ideal for hats, purses, baskets and more. Share in the comments below how you are implementing this new stitch technique.
