    Thanksgiving Recipes, Tried & True

Free Download! 100 pages of tried and true Thanksgiving recipes to add to your table!

Photo by Angela of Axe & Root Homestead

Whether you are hosting Thanksgiving for the first time or you have been hosting for many years. These recipes will help guide you to create a table full of yummy food, everyone will enjoy!

Photo by Alexa of The Duvall Homestead

I know when I hosted for the first few years, I was so overwhelmed by all the yummy options. What should I include? What if I forget about a must have recipe, like stuffing? Although I’m not a huge stuffing fan. Bring on the green bean casserole and don’t forget to triple the recipe!

Photo by Genevieve of Gracefully Home

I have now hosted Thanksgiving for years. I tend to stick to the same ol’ recipes that I know my family enjoys, but this year I wanted to add in new to us recipes. You know the ones that your friends bring to gatherings. Grandma’s jello pudding, aunties broccoli casserole or your uncles dry rub? Yes those are the recipes I want to include on our table this year. Not only do they come with many good stories, but you’ll never find another recipe quite like it.

Photo by Meagan of Leeco Honey

I decide to reach out to some of my homestead living friends and ask them for their families tried and true recipes. Some of these recipes have been passed down for generations and enjoyed with lots of laughter.

Photo by Sylvie of Fleurelle Blooms

My hope is that these recipes will help you create a beautiful and nourishing Thanksgiving dinner. There are so many wonderful options, so that you can choose the right cranberry dish for your families liking. Everything from turkey brine, appetizers, teas, bunch ideas and left over soup.

Included are paleo and gluten free options. This 100 page PDF includes 40 recipes ranging from breakfast, lunch, dinner, desert, appetizers and drinks. Download your free copy!

    Happy Thanksgiving Friends!

  • Homesteading on A Budget

    Homesteading on A Budget

Homesteading On A Budget by Angelina of the The White Family Homestead.

Hi friends, I’m Angelina and this is the story of how my husband Casey and I started our homesteading/business journey. It was in early 2011 that we bought our home and property. My husband and I always knew we wanted to live in the country and after buying our property our goal was to be self sufficient.

We started with a garden, neither of us being gardeners. It began with a few seed packets, gifted tomato starts and we were hooked on growing our own food. Each year I learned more and more as we expanded the garden.

Then we bought chicks! I’m sure most of you know of chicken math.. Chicks lead to more and more chicks. Once we started our family, homesteading was even more important because we wanted to teach our kids about growing and raising food.

With our jobs and new babies keeping us busy our homestead didn’t expand much, but our goals and dreams didn’t stop. We were getting log trucks for firewood and would process 10 cords of wood every couple years. We also planted bare root trees for our mini orchard and did countless projects improving our homestead using free or cheap materials we’ve been given or found on Facebook/Craigslist.

As a family we discussed our next move and made the decision to invest in a plasma table and make metal decor that we were often on the hunt for during our treasure hunts at antique/thrift stores. Our vision for our metal decor business has always been to create original designs to add charm to our customer’s home and to create custom signs that have an heirloom quality that will be enjoyed for many years. All four of us do a part in making our business run.

Our homestead is also a team effort because we are teaching our kids about hard work but also what goes into what we do. The kids love collecting eggs and packaging them up when we would sell them at the market. My son loves chatting with the hens and giving them treats from our table. Both kids have been playing in the dirt since they were in diapers and still help me plant seeds and water the green babies. They are constantly amazing me in how fast they learn and everything they want to be a part of.

Our business may appear to be only metal decor but we are much more than that. Our goal is to show others that homesteading has many faces and it can be done on any budget. We want to prove to those just starting out that there are many ways of getting projects done and most of them they can do themselves. Along with that we want to provide quality craftsman made metal to add beauty to your home.

  • Crochet American Flag Wall Piece

    Crochet American Flag Wall Piece

I’m so excited to announce that my Crochet American Flag Wall Piece pattern is now available!

As most of you already know, I lost my step brother SGT. Tyler Shelton on August 27th! These last few weeks have been some of the most heartbreaking!

STG Tyler Shelton was serving the US Army as part of the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment “Night Stalkers,” out of Fort Campbell, KY. He was a helicopter repairer, engaged in training operations off the coast of Southern California when the Black Hawk they were flying went down killing STG Shelton, along with one other soldier. 💔

Through the tears I created a Crochet American Flag 🇺🇸 wall piece for his wife he left behind, as well as my step dad. Honoring his ultimate sacrifice for our country! I’ve cried many tears & prayed broken prayers through each stitch. This has been the hardest gift I have ever made, but my most proud! I’m so proud of you brother, thank you for teaching us to always smile! I know we will smile again, it will just take some time! 160th Night Stalkers Don’t Quit!

This pattern is available for FREE but it would mean the world to me to support his wife by any donation to a GoFundMe that was set up to help her grieve the loss of her husband and not have to worry about how she will pay there bills, during this time. I can’t thank you enough for all of the kind words and many prayers you’ve said for my family! Please continue to pray for the Shelton family! 🙏🏻

This pattern was created in honor & loving memory of SGT. Tyler Shelton! 160th Night Stalkers DON’T QUIT!

This pattern includes a Puffed Spike Stitch, for directions on how to crochet a Spike Stitch & Puff Stitch follow these tutorials.
