Wool and the gang kindly reached out to me asking if the kids and I would be interested in making a holiday wreath, testing out there new feeling good yarn. Reading the email out loud to myself, Laila yelled “YES mom, say yes!”

We had so much fun making our wreath and couldn’t stop talking about how soft the yarn was. Laila and Easton both learned how to make different size pom pom’s and towards the end they didn’t need much of mommies help. Aspen even helped with the tight tension as he kept running away with the bundles of yarn.

My favorite part about creating this holiday wreath was that the kids could help with every step. We picked up a metal wreath from the dollar store and left the ties to each pom pom long enough to tie to the wreath frame.

    Supplies:

    Instructions:

    1. Create different size pom poms.
    2. Tie pom poms to the back of the wreath.
    3. Fill in any gaps with extra pom poms.
    4. Trim loose hanging ties in the back.
    5. Hang and enjoy!

As I was working with this yarn, ideas for other projects keep coming to mind. Which included a cozy cowl scarf, a throw blanket for the couch and endless amounts of beanies!

  • Sourdough Starter Pancakes

    Sourdough Starter Pancakes

A good morning begins with sourdough starter pancakes.

I’m not typically a morning person unless you yell “COFFEE.” My kids on the other hand are ready to start the day and scarf down breakfast before they even open their eyes. While some mornings all I can think to do is make them cereal, others I am able to breakout the trusty sourdough and eggs.

When it comes to sourdough pancakes I found it a little tricky to get a consistent batch without a bitter after taste. Some mornings all I had was a cup of sourdough to work with, while other mornings I had two cups or more. This past weekend Chad and I finally realized the key to a perfect batch.. Its two cups of sourdough!

You see with less than two cups of sourdough starter you end up with a bitter after taste from the baking soda and no one wants that for breakfast! I hope you enjoy this tasty recipe and don’t forget to add the blueberries or chocolate chips.

    Sourdough Starter Pancakes

    Ingredients:

    • 2 cups sourdough starter
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 tablespoon coconut oil
    • 2 tablespoons honey
    • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed, optional.

    Directions:

    1. Mix ingredients well.
    2. Preheat cast iron or griddle.
    3. Cook with butter.
    4. Enjoy!

Our cast iron set is one of our most used kitchen essentials because of how easy they are too clean, not to mention the health benefits. I love this set because it comes with a variety of different pots, pans, skillets and a griddle.

I love using the dutch oven for soups or sourdough bread making. Our skillet is probably the most used, with breakfast, lunch and dinners throughout the week. My flat skillet cooks up our pancakes and English muffins. While the griddle is great for burgers, steaks and grilled sandwiches.

  • Sourdough Starter Pita Bread

    Sourdough Starter Pita Bread

Quick and easy sourdough starter pita bread. Enjoy with hummus or your favorite spinach artichoke dip.

No matter how many different veggies I cut up, my children won’t eat them with hummus. One day we had ran out of our favorite organic blue corn tortilla chips and we were all in the mood for hummus. Unlike my son, I can’t scoop hummus and eat it plan.

I decided to make something similar to my sourdough starter pizza crust , to dip in the hummus. That’s how this pita bread recipe was born. As long as you have a healthy and active sourdough starter, this bread can be made in approximately 5 minutes.

  • Addi- Knitting Loom Fall Pumpkin Pattern

Addi- Knitting Loom Fall Pumpkin Pattern

Addi- knitting loom fall pumpkin pattern for beginners.

As a little girl I remember my grandma crocheting me countless blankets. As she got older, it got hander to crochet. I remember here purchasing a knitting machine and making blankets a lot quicker. Not much thought went into it as a young girl, but this last year I mentioned how I wish I could crochet faster. Then the memories came flooding, a knitting machine!!

I started googling and YouTubing any information I could find on these knitting machines. I am across the addi knitting looms and was sold! Although the one my grandma used was not a loom. This knitting loom seemed a lot less complicated then the old fashion long knitting machines like my grandma had used.

I started practicing in the round with beanies, until I no longer dropped a stitch. Then I mastered the flat panel. Let me tell you, that took a long minute! After watching endless youtube videos and getting comfortable with my knitting loom, I decided I wanted to start making my own designs.

Seeing how we are in fall and I just finished a crochet pumpkin pattern, I decided to test one out on my loom. It definitely took me a few tries but I am so happy with how this pumpkin turned out. Plus how quickly the addi knitting loom works up a project!

If you are interested in purchasing a knitting loom to see if you like it and don’t want to spend a ton, my daughter uses this hand crank knitting loom and we love it.

  • Crochet Mini Pumpkin Pattern

    Crochet Mini Pumpkin Pattern

A quick and easy crochet mini pumpkin pattern.

A few years ago I came across a crochet pumpkin pattern that I made for family and friends. Over the last few years those friends have asked me to make more, but I couldn’t seem to find the pattern. I decided I would just go for it and start crocheting a few small pumpkins, creating my own pattern.

I had also just came up with a new ribbing stitch I thought would be fun to use for the pumpkin and I absolutely love how they turned out. Here is the new stitch I used to create the ribbing effect, The Corkscrew Stitch.

You can quickly make this pumpkin and many more to decorate your home or make handmade sweet little pumpkin gifts for fall. The second option is usually my favorite. Fall feels like the perfect time to spoil a friend.

This pattern is super simple. You basically make a rectangle flat panel. Crochet along one side, seam up the two ends and crochet along the other side. After that you close up one side, stuff and close up the other side. All that’s left is creating the sections of the pumpkin.

I personally love how cute these pumpkins turned out with dried tree branches as the stem. You could also use cinnamon sticks, a thick piece of twine or crochet a cord.
